Opioid Awareness

Addressing the Opioid Epidemic

Overdose deaths involving prescription opioids have quadrupled since 1999, as have sales of these pain killers. Additionally, despite all the prescriptions being written over the last several decades, there hasn’t been any decrease in reports of chronic pain.

Clearly, we’ve been doing something wrong when it comes to treating pain - and we’d like to talk to you about some ways to change our status quo so that we can live healthier, safer, and longer lives.

That’s why we’re launching our latest class, Opioid Awareness, as a way to help people understand more about what opioids are, how they affect our bodies, and why they’ve created such a huge problem in society. During our time together, we’ll also be exploring alternative ways for people to find pain relief that are non-invasive and drug-free.

Here’s what to expect from our time together

The human toll of prescription use, abuse, dependence, overdose, and poisoning have rightfully become a national public health concern; and people from both private and public sectors have been calling for change.

As professionals in the health industry, we are dedicated to health and well-being, and we consider it our duty to help people understand the options they have in terms of treating and managing their pain. During our time together we’ll be discussing the role that chiropractic care can play in pain relief, while also helping you gain a better understanding of how we arrived at this place in time, where six in ten Americans take prescription drugs and more than 165,000 Americans died from prescription opioid overdoses within a 15 year period.

We know that there is a way out of this pattern we’ve fallen into as a society of treating pain with pain-killers instead of treating the root of the issue, and we want to share it with you.

Take Control Of The Health Care You Receive

Our goal for this experience is to help each participant understand that taking prescription opioids can be dangerous, and not always the best - or only - option you have when it comes to treating chronic pain.

Eighty percent of Americans will experience back pain in their lives. One-hundred million Americans suffer from chronic pain today, and many of those people have accepted a prescription for opioids as a way to treat that pain, without realizing the true dangers that come along with it - but it doesn’t have to be that way.

If you’re interested in learning about alternative methods for relieving pain and are looking for a safe and welcoming place to discuss and learn about the often sensitive topic of opioids, you won’t want to miss out on this opportunity.
